Smoothed speed based on a rolling average over the last three seconds

The current live GPS speed fluctuates quite significantly while paddling due to GPS variations, waves and individual paddle strokes. This makes it difficult to use for structured training, especially when paddling a surfski or fitness kayak.

A three-second rolling average—or ideally a configurable rolling average of 3, 5 or 10 seconds—would provide a much more stable and useful indication of current speed without the delay of the overall session average.

It would be great if this could be selected as a live data field on the Apple Watch.

We have some “data management” in the app which applies to this, however I am always looking at opportunities to improve. So I know where to look, to be clear this request is specifically for while the session is live, rather than after the fact?

Yes. While paddling the speed display fluctuates quite a lot on the watch. One second it’s 7,9 km/h an the next 9,3 km/h without changing the paddling frequency on still water.
